Hey everyone!

A customer asked me the other day why we didn't do sales on holidays. A lot of people go out of town, or are hanging out with their family and friends, but I figured what the heck, let's give it a try. So, this Friday (that's the 4th of July for those of you that didn't know) we'll be having a sale! From 11am until 7pm, the following items will be on sale:

-ALL GRAPHIC NOVELS - 25% OFF!

-ALL CURRENT COMIC ISSUES - 25% OFF!

-ALL BACK ISSUES - 30% OFF! (this includes the hundreds of new Silver Age and Bronze Age books we've picked up recently, including dozens of issues of Iron Man and Thor!)

And you can't have the 4th of July without a BBQ, so we'll be cooking hamburgers and hot dogs, along with drinks and chips, outside for most of the day, and the best part is, they're FREE! So come on down, get some good free food, buy some cheap comics, hang out with fellow comic fans, and celebrate the 4th of July with Comics Conspiracy!

Hello comic fans!

Just a quick reminder that our signing with GEOFF JOHNS starts tomorrow at 2pm! We'll also be taking donations all day for the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. Any donation (we're suggesting $3.00 - $5.00, but don't let that stop you from donating more!) will get you a raffle ticket for a dinner with Geoff Johns after the signing on Wednesday night! There will be 5 winners, so make sure you're free around 6:30pm if you get a raffle ticket and want to go to the dinner. We'll also be hosting an after party from 9pm until whenever we decide to go to bed, and Geoff will be here for that as well.

Get here early tomorrow and check out DC UNIVERSE ZERO, co-written by Geoff Johns, so you're not spoiled when the conversations start up.

The remodel is (mostly) done!

Hey everyone, we're mostly done with the remodel, so come on down and check out the store! There might be a few minor changes over the upcoming weeks as we get settled in, but the major parts are done.

I want to thank the employees that helped out with the remodel, as well as my good friends Brock, Milton, Jeff, Sean, Jordan, Luke, and Tony for coming down and helping out as well! I, literally, couldn't have done it with out you guys.

WRITER GEOFF JOHNS TO SIGN DC UNIVERSE: ZERO, RAFFLE DINNER FOR CBLDF, AT COMICS CONSPIRACY

SUNNYVALE, CA, April 7, 2008 – Popular comic book writer Geoff Johns (Green Lantern, Infinite Crisis) will be signing at the Sunnyvale-based Comics Conspiracy on Wednesday, April 30th from 2pm-6pm, in support of his new comic book release, DC UNIVERSE: ZERO. Co-written by Grant Morrison, with art by George Pérez, Tony Daniel, J.G. Jones, and many more, this issue serves as the springboard for the upcoming FINAL CRISIS mini-series, as well as many DC projects throughout 2008 and 2009.

“We’re very happy to have Geoff here at the store,” said Comics Conspiracy owner Ryan Higgins. “He’s brought a new life to DC’s characters that haven’t been seen in years, and the sales of his titles reflect fans’ growing interest in these characters. The DC Universe is in good hands with him as one of the major architects.”

A Comic Book Legal Defense Fund dinner raffle will follow the signing. The CBLDF was founded in 1986 as a 501 © 3 non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of First Amendment rights for members of the comics community. Five lucky fans will win the opportunity to have dinner with Geoff Johns, and all money collected for the raffle will be donated to the CBLDF. Comics Conspiracy owner Ryan Higgins will match the amount generated by the raffle. “I’ve been a supporter of the Fund for many years, and hope to continue to raise money for this important organization,” Higgins said.

Comics Conspiracy is located at 115-A East Fremont Avenue in Sunnyvale, CA. Geoff Johns will be signing from 2pm until 6pm, followed by the raffle dinner for the CBLDF.

Those of you that have been reading for a while have seen me mention my nephew Ben lots of times. He's this guy.

He's a spoiled little booger. Sadly, he's a spoiled little booger that had a cancerous brain tumor removed last June. In the months since then he's been through a lot. Fortunately, we're on the better side of the worst bits now. Chemo and radiation are done; surgeries and MRI's are past. It was a hard time for my family. I don't know if you guys are aware of this, but not dying is expensive. And when things got bad, there was an organization that helped us out a lot, the Candlelighters. They provide counseling, money for everything from groceries and gas to validating parking. They were a huge help, and are an amzing group.

Starting with official pals of SIB Thom Zahler and Jesse Farrell, I'm getting in contact with as many artists as I can for a charity project to help raise money to help the families of kids with cancer. Both of these brilliant fellows are donating commissions of their work to be auctioned off on ebay. (The candlelighters are part of ebay's charity auction program. Ebay actually makes charity auctions really safe and easy, so I'm quite happy about that. They make it way more trustworthy than I.) I need your help in contacting other artists; professional, amateur, folks who like to doodle stick figures on post-its, to add their talents. Finished pieces, commissions, anything they'd like to contribute.

This blog has a tiny readership I know. Because of that the end result will likely be shamefully nonrepresentational of the amazing talents of the folks who donate their time and art, but hey, even if we get just a few dollars we'll have done something good, i think. So please spread this link around, contact folks you think may be able to help. Artists, folks who would be interested in buying, any one.
